The Planet we are working on is Jupiter. Jupiter is the Solar System's largest Planet. Its mainly hydrogen and helium atmosphere resembles that of our sun. Jupiter is the fifth planet from the sun. Jupiter is by far the largest planet, It is more than twice as massive as all the planets combined. Jupiter has features very different from terrestrial planets. Its composition is more like that of Stars, and if it has any solid surface it is hidden deep at its center. Jupiter is apparently almost entirely gas and liquid. The four largest moons of Jupiter are (The Galilean Moons). There are 16 main moons including the The Galilean ones of Callouts, Ganymede, Europa, and Io. There are 44 additional small orbiting bodies. There are also Four dark, thinnish rings. Jupiter takes about 12 years to orbit the sun and rotates in about 10 hours. Once every 11.9 Earth years, Jupiter makes a complete orbit around the sun. The orbital speed of Jupiter is 13.1 km/sec. One year on Jupiter is equal to 11.9 earth years. A day on Jupiter, is equal to 9.8 earth hours. The Great Red Spot has been storming for hundreds of years!!! This Jupiter ''days''is amazing science the planet roughly 11 earth diameters wide. Jupiter's main ring is formed by dust. Meteoroids smash into the giant planet's four small inner moons Althea, Theme, Adrastea, and Meets. Jupiter, called the gaseous giant is a gas planet unlike Earth and Mars which are rocky. Jupiter is made up of about 90 % hydrogen and 10 % helium. There are three different parts to Jupiter's rings. The innermost, Cloud-like ring is called the Halo Ring. The next one out is the main ring, which is narrow and thin. How did Jupiter get its name? The Romans named Jupiter after the supreme god in their religion. Jupiter is over 85 thousand miles in diameter.Has a total of 16 satellites. The symbol for Jupiter looks like a fancy number 4. It is a stylized version of a lightning bolt. Jupiter's mass is 317 times Earth's. It's diameter is 142,983 kilometers. The average temp. is -110°c. It's average density is 1.33 grams per cubic centimeter. That's only slightly more then the density of water. Although it has a large mass,it's not very dense. Its escape density is 59.5 (km/s). The gasses which jupiter is mostly made of change to liquid inside jupiter but. The change is very slow. this means that the giant planet is huge.
