Page_1.jpgJupiter is the fifth planet from the sun. It is about 778 million kilometers from the sun. It’s spins a whole rotation at nine hours, and fifty-five minutes long. Its revolution around the sun is 4332.59 Earth days.(1) There have been six explorations to Jupiter: Pioneer10, Pioneer 11, Voyager 1, Voyager 2, Ulysses, and Galileo.(2)
The planet Jupiter has a mass is 317 times larger than that Earth’s, with a diameter of 142,983 kilometers (288,846 miles). That is longer than 100 football fields, field goal to field goal. The average temperature is 153 degrees Celsius, -244 degrees Fahrenheit. To escape Jupiter’s gravity like launching a rocket, you would have to travel at 214,203 kilometers per hour, or 133,100 mph. This is faster than the fastest vehicle on Earth today. One unique features of Jupiter is its Great Red Spot, which can hold three Earths inside of it. Its atmosphere is composed of mainly Hydrogen and Helium.(3)
