Neptune is the eight planet from the Sun in our Solar System. It has a diameter of 49,532 km (30,760 miles). Neptune is nicknamed The Mystic. Neptune has eight large moons named... Naiad, Thalassa, Despina, Galatea, Larissa, Proteus, Triton, and Nereid. If Neptune was hollow it could only contain 60 Earths. The blue gaseos planet of neptune orbits the sun every 165 years! Neptunes space probes were Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. The first moon discovered on Neptune was Trition, which was discovered by William Lassel in 1846.

Main Details:
· 8th Planet from the Sun in our Solar System.
· Discovered September 23, 1846
· Discovered by: Johann Gottfried Galle
· Diameter of about 49,500 km.

Neptune’s Atmosphere:
· If hollow could contain nearly 60 Earths
· Two-Thirds of Neptune is a mixture of molten rock, water, liquid ammonia, and Methane.
· Large Storm called the Great Dark Spot. Similar to Jupiter’s Great Red Spot.
Atmospheric Composition:
· Methane--2%
· Helium--13%
· Hydrogen--85%
Life on Neptune:
· A day on Neptune is roughly a little over sixteen hours.
· Orbits the Sun every 165 YEARS!!!
· Neptune measured the strongest winds that have been measured by any planet in the Solar System.
· Winds mostly blow towards the west of Neptune

The Features:
· Neptune has a set of rings such as Saturn’s, except they are very faint and not visible.
· 8 moons are claimed by the 8th planet Neptune.
· Blue, which is caused by the methane in Neptune’s atmosphere.
Fun Facts:
· Axis tilt 29.56 (Degrees)
· Distance from the Sun—4,504,300,000 km.
· Now actually the last planet from the sun in our solar system because Pluto was, but is now considered a sub-planet.
