Neptune is the 8th planet from the sun. Neptune is also the 4th largest planet. It is one of the four outer planets, which are all large and gaseous. Did you know that In Roman mythology Neptune was the god of the sea? Or that Neptune is the planet of trance, meditation and dreams. That’s why you should choose Neptune as your number one choice if you ever have to decide what planet you want to visit.

Neptune's Interior

Neptune's Interior is made up of four layers. The First one is the upper atmosphere, which is made up of amazing cloud tops. The second layer is the atmosphere. Which is made up of hydrogen which is 80%, Helium which is 18.5%, and Methane with 1.5%. The thrid layer is the mantel, which is filled with water, ammonia, and methane ices. Finally, the last layer, the core witch is just rock and ice.

Have you ever wondered what you would weigh on another planet? Well, on Neptune if you weigh 110 pounds on Earth you’ll weigh 124 pounds on Neptune. Also if you weigh 170 pounds on Earth you’ll weigh 191 pounds on Neptune.

Neptune takes 165 years to make one orbit around the sun. It also takes 16.11 for one Sidereal the revolution. Some other fun facts you should know about Neptune is that the planet was discovered on September 23, 1846. There are 13 known moons. Also the average distance from sun is 2.8 billion miles. Yes, Neptune is very interesting!

Johann Gottfried Galle, a Berlin Observatory, and Louis d’ Arrest, a student of astronomy were the first two people to observe the planet Neptune (By voyager 2). Passing Uranus voyager 2 traveled to Neptune another large gaseous planet. Also the Surface area is about the size of 15 earth. And Neptune's surface is covered with clouds that range in temperature from -240 degrees to -330 degrees.

Did you know that Thick clouds cover Neptune’s surface? Did you know that the mass of Neptune is 17 times the mass of earth? Or did you know that Voyager 2 in 1989 discovered the Great dark spot? It was about the size of earth. (Now you know!)

Scale Model

In a scale model of a solar system, with the sun being 615 mm. The size of the planet Neptune would be 20 mm in diameter.

The Mass of Neptune is 102,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000kg. In other words Neptune is 17 times the size of earth.

Neptune and Sun

The Distance from the sun to Neptune is about 2.8 Billion miles
